Richard Glenn Taylor, aged 62 and a lifelong resident of Yreka, passed away at his home on April 1, 2012.
Richard was born on April 10, 1949 to Roy and Eleanor Taylor of Yreka. Richard attended Yreka High School and graduated in 1967. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Germany and two tours of duty in Vietnam. After his honorable discharge in 1971, Richard worked for many years in the logging industry until he was critically injured in a logging accident.
With determination, Richard continued to pursue his lifelong interests in hunting, gold mining and gardening, learned from his beloved father Roy and his grandfather Ed Harris. In his later years, Richard continued to show his ever-gentle nature to the Yreka community, as he opened his doors with kindness and generosity to all who sought it from him. He is survived by his daughter Chantel (Wilson) Hall; two grandchildren Dalton and Emma of Ferndale, Calif.; his sister Marsha (Tom) Hayden of Scott Valley; his sister Adria Jean (Billy) Burke of Granbury, Texas; his nephews Tim Burke of Springfield, Va. and Casey Burke of Temple, Texas; and his niece Kory Hayden of Moraga, Calif. Richard was preceded in death by his parents Eleanor (1999) and Roy Taylor (1973).
A military memorial service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. on April 11, 2012 followed by interment in the family plot at Evergreen Cemetery in Yreka.
