Harley "Bud" Edwin Ripley Jr.
(April 13, 1943 - February 20, 2012)
Harley Edwin Ripley Jr., better known to his friends as “Bud”, passed away suddenly on Monday, February 20, 2012 at Fairchild Medical Center.
Bud was born April 13, 1943 in Upper Lake to Harley and Frances Ripley. Bud lived a total of 25 years in Siskiyou County. He was very active in Boy Scouts and attended the Episcopal Church and in the last several years has been very involved in the Bethel Assembly of God Church. Bud worked as a chef in Grandma’s House, Denny’s, Purple Plum and the Lake Shastina Country Club. While living in Iowa, he cooked for the Iowa Cubs in their Sky Boxes. Prior to becoming a chef, he worked for a time with the U.S. Forest Service. He was also a member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge. Bud loved everyone and was known as a gentle giant. He adored his wife, Linda, who survives him. In addition to Linda, he is survived by 2 children and their spouses, Madonna and Steve Dalton of White City, Ore. and Christina and Ed Granillo of Weed; his sister, Maggie Conner of Yreka; 3 grandchildren, Angel Elder, Crystal Elder and Harley Edwin “Eddie” Ripley IV and numerous great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his 1st wife, Karron and his son, Harley III. A memorial service and celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at the Bethel Assembly of God Church at the top of Lane St. in Yreka.
