On Feb. 16, 2012, Lorena Jane Hansen of Etna passed away at her daughters house with her children and grandchildren by her side. She was 79.

Rena was born on July 23, 1932 in Commerce, Okla., the daughter of Louis and Adelaide Doke. In 1935, Rena and the Doke family moved to the L.A. area, where she attended Manchester Elementary, Brett Heart Junior High and graduated from Gardena High School.

In 1950, she married Robert James Hansen Sr. They began raising the first of their five children in Torrence, Calif. In 1969, Rena and Bob moved their family to Scott Valley, where she spent the remainder of her life. She worked as a social services and activity director for twenty five years. She enjoyed spending time with her family camping, boating and archery. Rena loved knitting Christmas stockings for her entire family. She delivered genuine joy and happiness with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren at her house every Easter.

Rena was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years Robert Hansen Sr.; her parents, Louis and Adelaide Doke; her brothers, Louie, Nat and Bill Doke; her sisters, Ruby, Pearl and Glenna Doke; her son, Karl Hansen; and her grandchildren, Brian and Eric Hansen. She is survived by her four children, Butch, Buddy and his wife Kim, Karee and her husband Lee and Kenny and his wife Kim; her sisters Marge and Laura Doke; her brothers Rocky, George, Danny and David Doke; 22 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012 in the Scott Valley Berean Church, 142 Church St. in Etna. Girdner Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.
