Anneliese Elisabeth Strehle

Anneliese Elisabeth Strehle, born November 7, 1930 in Huels, Krefeld, Germany, passed peacefully with her family by her side on August 29, 2024 at Madrone Hospice House in Yreka, California, at the age of 93. Anneliese grew up in a large, loving family with her parents Hermann Wilhelm and Maria Margaretha Muelders and 5 brothers in Huels, "Die Stadt von Samt und Seide" ("City of Velvet and Silk"), known for its rich textile industry. Anneliese graduated dressmaking school in Germany in 1953, and was an accomplished dressmaker and designer for most of her adult life. She continued to enjoy her creative sewing projects well after retirement. Anneliese met the love of her life, Ernst, while vacationing in Willingen, Germany. They married on December 28, 1956 and settled in Krefeld, where their first four children were born. They moved to South San Francisco, California in 1966, where their youngest child was born and all five children were raised. Happily married 61 years, they made Lake Shastina their retirement home, after living ten years in Krefeld, Germany and 27 years in South San Francisco. Following her husband's passing in 2017, Anneliese moved to her daughter's farm where she lived independently until her passing. Anneliese and Ernst were members of the Siskiyou Wanderers, a group with which they enjoyed the many lovely hikes Siskiyou County has to offer. With a love of the outdoors, Anneliese enjoyed cross country skiing, hiking, swimming in mountain lakes, and bicycling. As a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Mt. Shasta, Anneliese participated in weekly meetings and prayer, and established close friends who have shown her love and kindness. With a true loving heart and infectious smile, Anneliese was well-loved and popular with a great sense of humor. She was always singing and happiest when surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Anneliese is survived by her four children, Barbara Hoeffler (husband Kirk), Ute Micklos (husband Jeff), Ina Strehle-Talamantez (husband John), and Michael Strehle (wife Daphne), eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, as well as extended family in Germany. Anneliese was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ernst, son Achim, and all five brothers. You will always be cherished and remembered forever in our hearts.
