Carole Jean Cyrus

Carole Jean Cyrus peacefully died on May 4, 2019. She was in the beautiful Madrone Hospice receiving amazing care since May 1. She was surrounded by family and friends sharing stories, music, laughter, phone connections, and endless love that she always dearly cherished. Carole was born in Raceland, Kentucky and attended Russell High School, class of 1958. She married Charles Cyrus on August 2, 1959 and they moved to Southern California. She is fondly remembered by family and those around her for the great “larger than life family experience” and her ability to help comfort with her amazing cooking abilities, love for children and always her, “Don’t worry about it” attitude. Carole and Charles had 2 children, Eldon Lindsey married to Kris Cyrus and Verlyne Adehl married to Allen Williams. Being a mother was the greatest desire and joy in Carole’s life. They moved to Grass Valley where she made “the Barn” a home filled with adventures of barn dances, puzzles, games, water fights and always the best comfort foods for everyone who was there, and making wonderful neighbors and friends all part of the family. Becoming managers of the Best Western Miners Inn brought them to Yreka. Carole extended the same caring attitude toward all she worked with gaining their mutual respect. Carole became Mamaw, by the births of her grandchildren; Samantha, married to Daniel Stafford; Kalvin, married to Sonja Cyrus; Alexander (AJ), Timmothy, married to Katie Williams; Joseph and Trinda Williams. Watching her grandchildren grow, go to school, sports and homework, graduations and marriages, together with making every holiday and birthday so incredibly special and providing the amazing, heartwarming foods and treats was her incredible gifts. Mamaw became “Mamaw” to all around her because she extended the same warm, easy going love to friends and everyone brought into the family. Along with her grandchildren she is also the great grandmother to Aidan, Asher and Atticus Stafford, along with Cooper, due in July to Joseph and Kara. Together, her memories, stories and recipes will be passed along keeping her with us throughout our lives. Carole is survived by her brother Michael Estep and preceded in death by her sister Gail Partell, and her husband of 53 years, Charles Cyrus. A potluck has been tentatively been scheduled for June 15th. More information will be posted at a later date.
