Floyd Francis Milne

Floyd F Milne passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday May 13, 2013. Floyd was in Linda Vista Nursing Home in Ashland, Oregon at the time of his death. Floyd was born on June 9, 1922, the oldest son of Jim and Annie Milne of Scott Bar. He had one brother, Bill and three sisters, Dorothy (Robinson), Margaret (Day), and Inez (Rainey) who have all preceded him in death. Floyd went to school at Scott Bar School where it was his job to go early and start the fire to warm up the school house before class. He told many stories about growing up in Scott Bar. During WWII, Floyd joined the US Army and served in North Africa and Italy. After his discharge, he married Iris Rainey of Horse Creek on July 26, 1946. They made their home in Yreka and raised their two children. Floyd worked many jobs throughout the years. He spent many hours running a diamond saw, cutting the asphalt streets so Yreka could have cable television. Floyd and Iris worked side by side at the Arctic Circle Drive-In that they owned and operated. Floyd loved the San Francisco Giants and last year, went to Arizona to visit his grandson and go to several spring training games. He also loved to watch wrestling on TV and wasn't allowed to hold his little grand kids while watching. Floyd was a life time member of the VFW and was past commander of Yreka Post 3813. In March, 2012, Floyd was awarded The Bronze Star for his service in WWII. In 2005, Floyd lost his wife Iris after 58 years of marriage. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Loraine and Tom Herring of Riverside; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Margie Milne of Montague; granddaughters, Teri DeRosa, Lake Havasu City, Ariz. and Heather Nichols, Redding; grandsons, Tim Herring, Riverside and Jason Milne, Goodyear, AZ. Floyd also leaves two great-granddaughters and two great-grandsons as well as many nieces and nephews. Through the years, Iris babysat in the home and helped raise four very special girls who have been like daughters to Floyd: Chris, Sharon, Carol, and Susan Coffman. Floyd will be missed by many friends as well as his family. Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 17, 2013 at the Yreka Community Berean Church, 203 Wetzel Way in Yreka with a reception to follow.
