Frances Jean Rand

Frances Jean Rand was born Dec. 3, 1925 in Marshalltown, Iowa. She was married to Vernon Rand on August 28, 1946 and just celebrated 66 years of marriage. They had three children, Dave, Denyse and Doug, and she was a homemaker but was so much more. She put everything she had into raising her children to be good and loving adults and she never gave up on any of them. She came from a large family and all of them always called her Aunt Fudgie because of her special ability for making candy. She held each member of her family in respect and love and was always interested in their lives and interests. Family, to her, was the most important thing in this life. She had a special sense of adventure and would try anything. Most of the family remembers the famous Annual Mother-Daughter Pumpkin Run to Half Moon Bay every autumn for a pumpkin. She loved to travel and visited many places such as Germany and New York City, she had flown in a hot air balloon, could camp and fish with the best of them, knit scarves and sweaters for each child and grandchild, and loved to play the slots on occasion. Her favorite time was playing Scrabble with the family. Frances and Vernon moved from Southern California to Yreka, CA in 1994 to enjoy the quiet of the mountains in their retirement. She immediately joined the Methodist Church there and began to make friends and get involved. She never missed going to the county fair and every year would drive out to see the congregation of the bald eagles in Tulelake. She had many friends that will miss her greatly. Frances went home to be with the Lord on November 23, 2012 quietly at home with her husband and all of her children near her. She leaves behind her husband Vernon, sons David Rand and daughter-in-law Donna, Doug Rand and daughter-in-law Debbie, and daughter Denyse Reed and son-in-law Randy. She also leaves grandchildren Krista Rand and Jake Rand and great-grandchildren Hannah, Emily and Dreyke. She was pre-deceased by granddaughter Kathleen.
