Gail Ann Ordway

Longtime Siskiyou County resident Gail Ann Ordway, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, &great grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2020, surrounded by her family and lots of LOVE. Gail was born on April 8th, 1950 in Littleview, Alabama to Bill and Billie Askew. Gail grew up attending schools in National City, CA. In 1965 Gail met Joseph Perreira in Big Bear, CA. Shortly after meeting and falling in love they were married. In 1969 Gail and Joe welcomed their first child; 10 months later another followed. After divorcing in 1979 Gail moved to Washington State briefly. It was after that in 1981 Gail, in a moving truck with her two young children, moved to Fort Jones, where she would plant roots and work within the community. Gail loved to garden, socialize, and laugh. Her primary goal always was to take care of her growing children and family. Gail worked for Oro Fino Dairy. Though that was a physically challenging job she toughed it out until she physically couldn't. Gail then continued on into the helping field where she would care for the elderly. After working many years in the Scott Valley she moved to Yreka where she could be closer to her job. After years at The Grenada Inn Gail left to care for those who would return home with family but still needed her. Gail then took a job offer in Scott Valley where she spent several years caring for and managing "A Touch Of Home". In 2010 Gail suffered a massive heart attack that ended her working career. If you knew Gail, not working was the most challenging for her. After spending so many years taking care of others, she now needed to be taken care of. Gail demanded independence until she drew her last breath. Gail is survived by daughter KimLen Perreira and her children Lindsay Vernon & Ryan Crowe (Catherine); son Joseph Perreira Jr. (Lisa Richardson) and his children Nina Perreira, Rose Reagan and Joseph William Perreira; great grandchildren, Maria and Remy Carpio, Alexander Perreira, Sarah-Dawn Davis, Daryn Balsz & Christopher Crowe. Siblings Sharon Lujan (Danny) of Utah and their son Michael Botus, brother Jefferson Askew of Keno, Oregon, and his daughter Jessica Askew Forbes of New York, & baby sister Laurie Martin of Klamath Falls, Oregon and her children Stanley Butler (Katie), Richard Martin (Jessica), Melissa Martin, Christopher Martin & Joshua Martin (Trista), 4 great nieces & 8 great nephews. Gail is also survived by her uncle Gerald Evans and his son Jack Evans (Maria) and their children Curt, AJ, Natasha & Jessie; her best friends, Penny and Paul Haehl of Yreka, whom she had known since moving here and where she lived with until her passing. Gail was predeceased by her parents Bill and Billie Askew, brother Christopher Askew, grandsons Michael Perreira & John Henry Stuart, and uncle Charles Evans. A private service will take place at a later date. We would like to thank Madrone Hospice for their wonderful care and support, Catherine Balsz Crowe for her love and support along with the years of taking care of Gail, Penny & Paul Haehl for being the BEST friends a person could ask for, and the unconditional love they showed for all of us during this process.
