Inez A. Myers

Inez Adail Parten Myers, beloved Mother, "Mom," "Grandma," "Nanny," "Nanners" and "Nan," passed away after a long illness at the home of her daughter on April 28, 2011, at the age of 94. Born July 28, 1916 in Imperial Valley, Inez was the fifth of ten children born to James and Josephine Parten. When her mother became ill, Inez left school to care for her and the younger children. She took control of the household and learned valuable skills that would benefit her throughout her life. A very talented lady, Inez was honored many times for her various accomplishments. She was chosen as Homemaker of the Month in Chino, CA, was awarded several first prizes for her handmade Christmas decorations and was most recently honored on March 5, 2011 by Yreka High School with the presentation of an honorary diploma for her "life-learned understandings" and "benefit to society." She loved working in her yard and was a gifted artist, embroiderer, cake decorator and cook. Inez met Merton Asa Myers while visiting relatives in Chino, CA and the couple were married on March 28, 1935. Inez worked as a waitress and a retailer while raising their three daughters, Peggy, Marilyn and Patricia. In 1979 Inez and Merton relocated to Yreka where she has resided ever since. Family has always been of the utmost importance to Inez, and her family has grown significantly over the years. She has been the center of her extended family and she especially looked forward to holiday gatherings, where she'd often be seen surrounded by all of the babies. Inez was preceded in death by her husband, Merton Myers; eldest daughter, Peggy Miller, and great-grandson Keith Shirley. She is survived by her sister Betty Oser; daughters Marilyn (and Larry) Jones and Patricia Ingle; grandchildren Gale (and Ron) Oliver, Pamela (and Curtis) Smith, Deborah (and Gerald) Shirley, Annette (and Cliff) Seay, Larry Dean (and Cynthia) Jones, Danny Ingle, Cynthia Culp, and Scott (and Michelle) Ingle; great-grandchildren Brian (and Jessica) Collins, Wayne (and Daniella) Smith, Gayla (and Matthew) Dagata, Katie Kubicek, Larry Dean (and Jessica) Jones II, Timothy Kubicek, Patrick (and Kayla) Shirley, Ashley (and Neil) Jones, Melissa Ingle, Kenneth (and Nicole) Jones, Natalie Ingle, Darren Jones, Dustin Culp, Ceara Ingle, Whitney Culp, Chandler Smith, Madisyn Ingle, Madison Smith, Jordyn Ingle, Rhianna Smith, Riley Smith, Caden Ingle and Austin Ingle; and great-great-grandchildren Michael Jones, Jordan Jones, Rachael Jones, Rollin Tolle, Dallin Dagata, Savannah Jones, Jayde Snell, Burke Shirley, Abigail Sanchez, Mason Snell and Cicely Shirley. Private graveside services will be held on May 27, 2011 at Evergreen Cemetery in Yreka, California.
