Jacqueline Samuels

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jacqueline Erleen Samuels of Scott Valley on April 11, 2015. Jackie was born October 1, 1931 in Campbell, CA to Irvin and Amy Fallis. Jackie was 83 years old. Jackie lived her entire life in California, from the beaches of Santa Cruz to the mountains of Felton. Soon after graduating from high school, she met the love of her life, Neal Samuels. After Neal returned from the war, they were married in 1952, spending 60 beautiful years at each others side until Neal passed away in 2012. Jackie and Neal spent their early married life in Southern California, where they raised their three children. The years were spent happily with friends, family vacations, trips to Las Vegas, bowling leagues and neighborhood gatherings. Jackie was a homemaker and a wonderful mom, while Neal worked hard and gave Jackie and the children a safe and comfortable life in the suburbs. In retirement, Jackie and Neal moved to the mountains of northern California; first to Meadow Valley where they lived in their dream home on the river, and eventually to Etna to be closer to family. To know Jackie was to love her. She was extremely sharp, well read and loved a good time. She spoke her mind, and had a will of iron. She loved her husband and children deeply her entire life, and she would always let us know it. Mothers are very special; we can't express how much we'll miss her. But we do draw comfort in believing she is reunited with Neal for eternity. Jackie is survived by her son Mark and his wife Carole of Laguna Hills, her daughters Debra Short and her husband Steve of Oro Fino, Wendy Smith and her husband Ross of Etna, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. And of course Belle, her little dog that never left her side. Jackie will be laid to rest next to Neal in the Etna Cemetery, where the inscription on their headstone reads "together forever". Graveside Services will be held Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Etna Cemetery.
