Jeanette Marcell Rivers

Jeanette Marcell Rivers (Jones) passed away from complications with lifelong heart issues the morning of Monday, April 11, 2022, with her best friend Ginger by her side. Jeanette was born in San Francisco on October 22, 1953. After a rough childhood in foster care, she met the love of her life Ted Rivers while attending Newark High School and they married in 1970. Jeanette and Ted welcomed son Shane in 1974, adopted Joshlyn a year later in 1975, with Teddy coming along in 1980. Being a foster child herself, she had a passion for any kids that needed a safe place or a temporary home for any reason. Whether officially in foster care or not, she and Ted were always willing to take them in, which ultimately led to them adopting their fourth child Caitlin in 2012. Jeanette was a devoted wife and mother, and in 1978 accepted Jesus as her Savior. This would change the course of her life, as she encouraged Ted to become a believer as well, which led to him becoming the youth pastor for Canyon Community Church and into a life of service for the Lord. In 1993, they became part of the Village Missions family and moved to Horse Creek Community Church and spent 8 years ministering and becoming part of that community. In 2000 they moved to Willow Creek Bible Church and with Ted's background in construction, they helped to renovate the parsonage and build the congregation for 8½ years. They then moved to French Gulch Bible Church and ministered to the community there for 6 ½ years. Ted and Jeanette started Rest and Restoration, traveling in their 5th wheel full time, helping churches and parsonages with building repairs and giving pastors a chance for a vacation. Jeanette's heart was always to help children in need, she loved to hold bible studies, Vacation Bible School, and after-school programs with the kids. Jeanette loved to travel; they were often camping, and she loved to go to the coast and see new places. Jeanette enjoyed watching NCIS and Star Trek, cooking and cleaning, stamping and crafting, spending time with her family and the wonderful friends she made; but her greatest joy was the time she spent with her grandchildren. Jeanette will be deeply missed by her sons Shane Rivers (wife: Jayme) and Ted L. Rivers (wife: Amanda), daughters Joshlyn Mitchell and Caitlin Davis-Rivers; brother John Jones; grandchildren Marcus Rivers, Connor Mitchell, Ashley Rivers, Anthony Rivers, Aiden Rivers, Vinny Freitas, Theodore "Drew" Rivers, Colby Sealander-Rivers, and Braelynn Rivers; great grandchildren Easton Mitchell and Addison Mitchell; as well as numerous extended family members and friends. Jeanette is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Ted R. Rivers. A Celebration of Jeanette's Life will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 21st, 2022, at Canyon Community Church located at 18291 Antler School Rd. Lakehead, CA 96051. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Canyon Community Church.
