Jim Stoltz

James Patrick Stoltz passed away at his home on March 2, 2012 in Yreka. Jim was born at home on January 8, 1933 to Joseph and Bertie Stoltz in Lucerne County, Pennsylvania. Before the Army deployed him in 1952, Jim married his high school sweetheart, Margaret Thomson. The planning of their wedding and the ceremony occurred within a five day period but their marriage lasted almost 60 years! Together, the loving couple had four children; Karen, Jennifer, Jimmy, and Brad. In Illinois, Jim attended Lake Forest College earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration. This was done while he and Margaret were house parents at Lake Forest Children’s Home, as well as working several part-time jobs. Jim worked as a Salesman for 25 years to support the two most important things in his life, his family and GOLF! Jim was a very supportive father and grandfather. He could be found watching any local sporting event that his grandkids were involved in. Jim learned to play golf on his honeymoon in Scotland and it was truly his most enjoyed past time. Jim not only played golf, he taught others to play golf, he watched golf on TV, Jim even told jokes about golf. Golf and Jim went hand in hand. In Illinois he served on the Mundelein City Council. He was an active JayCee holding many offices including President. He served as an Elder with the Kirk of the Lakes Presbyterian Church. After moving to Yreka, Jim was a member of the Lake Shastina Men’s Golf Club. He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret of Yreka; his children, Karen & Larry Guevara of Oxnard, CA, Jennifer Gross of Yreka, Jimmy & Donna Stoltz of Yreka, Brad & Krista Stoltz of Oceanside, CA, and ; his grandchildren and great grandson, Sarah, Rebecca, & Jacob Gross, Cassie & Eben Crawford, and Kim Silva and her son Nicholas. Jim was predeceased by both of his parents and his brother, Joseph Stoltz. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 10:30 AM at the Yreka United Methodist Church in Yreka.
