Jimmie Ray Wallick

Jimmie Ray Wallick, 87, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at Asante Hospital in Medford, Oregon following complications from hip surgery. Jim passed peacefully in the company of family members. He leaves his wife of 25 years, Linda Priem; his sons, James S. Wallick, and wife Cindy, John M. Wallick and wife Toni, Thomas H. Wallick, and Peter F. Wallick and wife Michelle; 8 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren. Jim Wallick was born in Akron, OH on February 13, 1928. He was the eldest of two children born to Nellie and Ray Wallick. His sister, Lou Anne Thomas preceded him in death. After a wonderful childhood in Akron, a young Jim Wallick went west to attend college at The University of New Mexico. His uncle, Jack Workman, a physics professor at the university, drew him to the school. Jim obtained a Bachelor’s degree of Arts in Business Administration and also met his first wife, Elizabeth Ann Roberts while at UNM. They were married in 1948. After college, Jim joined the Navy and attended officers training in Newport, RI. He was a First Lieutenant aboard two ships during the Korean Conflict. During his Navy Service, the first of his four children were born. Jim served in the U. S. Navy Reserve after his active duty ended. The growing Wallick family then made their home in New Mexico where Jim began his business career in the banking, moving and storage, and mortgage industries. His family grew with the addition of three more children. In 1969, a career opportunity with Gibraltar Savings and Loan brought the Wallick family to Yreka, CA. Jim quickly fell in love with the natural wonder of Siskiyou County, enjoying many family camping and hiking adventures. Jim was very active in the local community with service to The United Methodist Church, the Rotary Club, the Madrone Hospice, the Chamber of Commerce, Boy Scouts of America, and United Scholarship Inc. Jim retired from the banking industry in 1993 after an award-filled 24-year career. He spent his remaining days in his beloved Siskiyou County enjoying his family, his service work and the beauty of Scott Valley and the company of his wife, Linda. Jim’s final resting place will be Etna Cemetary. The family would like all remembrances directed to either Madrone Hospice, United Scholarship Inc., or to Stable Hands. A Celebration of Life service will be held on September 19th at 2:00 PM at the United Methodist Church, 502 N Fairchild St, Yreka, CA 96097, with refreshments to follow.
