Kathy Fayann Moody

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kathy Fayann Moody, 64 years old of Hornbrook. She left us while sleeping peacefully at her residence on November 1, 2021. Kathy was born in Yreka to Charlsie and Vernon Earl Fulcher on July 27, 1957. She lost her father at the tender age of 2 years old due to leukemia. As a young girl growing up, Kathy enjoyed spending time with her aunt and uncle, Millie and Dean Perdue. She often spoke fondly of memories while spending time at their home and diner in Yreka. Kathy married John Elmore in 1974. Together they welcomed 2 daughters, Lisa in 1975 and Nicole in 1977. After 11 years, they divorced. In 1985, she met the one, her love, John Moody. Two years later in 1987 they welcomed a son, John Vernon. Together they raised their 3 children. They enjoyed the small town life, taking the family camping and boating at Jenny Creek and Iron Gate Lake in the summertime. In the winter, they would go Christmas tree hunting in Beaver Creek and sledding at Deer Camp. They married on December 30, 1991. Early in life, Kathy enjoyed being a homemaker and she also worked various jobs to help support her family, including; head housekeeper at Miners Inn, line cook at State Line Service in Hilt. She put her heart and soul into preparing meals for her family, whether it was during the week or holidays. She loved to cook and always made enough for a small army. Kathy and John later bought "The Country Kitchen" in 1997. Together, they operated the restaurant in the small town of Hornbrook. They would have celebrated 30 years of marriage this December. Kathy enjoyed reading and writing poems. She was a collector; she always thought she had found the biggest treasures and found value in little trinkets, rocks, and old bottles. She had many figurines of cats and angels as well. She loved the color purple. Her hobbies were cooking, thrift store shopping, coloring, and drawing. She loved her Pomeranian dog Jenny-butt, her cats; Lulabelle, Tinkerbelle, and Sneakers. She enjoyed watching old black and white westerns; her two favorites were "Tombstone Territory" & "Gunsmoke." Dad would record them so she could watch them over and over again. She also liked watching "The Waltons" and "The Big Bang Theory." Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon Earl Fulcher, Charlsie Irene Atchely; stepfather, Arley Atchley; brother, Charles "Sonny" Day; and her beloved son John Vernon Lee Moody. Kathy is survived by her husband of 30 years, John Moody of Hornbrook; daughter, Lisa Elmore (David LaMarr) of Yreka; daughter, Nicole Suter (Jason Suter) of Redding; grandchildren, Dallas Jones (Noelle McGee) of Montague; Trevan Hampton of Yreka; Forrest and Stevie Dean of Yreka; Avery and Coleson Suter of Redding. She was looking forward to meeting her first great grand-daughter, Oakley Ray Jones of Montague; and sister Tracee Malaby Denby (Mike Chance) of San Diego. She also has numerous extended family members who loved her tremendously and will miss her very much. Our family would like to express our great appreciation to the office of Dr. Bruce Riger in Yreka, and DaVita Dialysis Center in Redding, and to all of their staff for providing excellent, invaluable medical care throughout the years. There will be a Celebration of Life on November 13th, 2021 from 11:00 to 3:00 pm at KRCE Lodge & Pool House, located at 4701 Whitefish Place, Hornbrook. We will be serving Tri-Tip, beans, salad and bread. You are welcomed to bring a pot-luck style side dish or your favorite dessert to share and your memories of Kathy to celebrate her life with us. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Purr Angels in Yreka or Renal Transplant Centers of America.
