Katie Marie Pierce (Ladewig)

Katie Marie Pierce (Ladewig) passed away at Mercy Medical Center in Redding as a result of her injuries she sustained on October 17, 2012. Though Katie’s life ended in tragedy, her spirit will live on through others as she graciously donated her organs to those in need. Katie was born September 5, 1982 to Vernon and Goldie Pierce in Yreka. She grew up as the older sister to Karlie Jean and became a middle child, later in life when her older brother Albert joined their family. Katie attended Montague Elementary and then Yreka High School graduating with the class of 2000. Throughout the years, she was involved in many different activities including volleyball, basketball, softball, and girl scouts.Katie married Lukes Ladewig on June 23, 2012. From this relationship, she was blessed with three beautiful little boys Lucian “Louie,” Liam, and Landis. They were the true love of her life. She enjoyed being a mom to the fullest extent, always wearing that big smile when she spoke of them, and she was so proud to be called “mom.” Besides caring for her boys, she loved to can, garden, and cook, all of which her three little ones reaped the full benefit of! Katie had a fun, soft personality with the most contagious giggle. She had a way about her when she greeted anyone who came to visit, meeting them outside, so excited they came to see her. She was an amazing cook and is known for her cheese cake and baking ability. If Katie had one downfall, it was her tender heart for rescuing animals and caring for strays. She brought home anything from kittens, birds, frogs, pigs, you name it, and she brought them all home, a trait Katie came by naturally. Most of all, Katie loved spending time with her family. Many summer days were spent at the lake, teaching her brother how to fish, swimming with her sister, or just simply enjoying the outdoors. Katie was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ralph Opdyke and Cecil and Dora May Pierce.She is survived by her three sons, Louie, Liam, and Landis; parents, Goldie and Vernon Pierce; brother, Albert Trujillo; sister, niece and nephew, Karlie Pierce, Jasmine and Cross; grandparents, Marlin and Darlene Johnson; great grandma, Goldie Opdyke; uncle and aunt, Brad and Jina Johnson; uncles, Jack and David Pierce as well as many cousins, friends and extended family.Katie’s passing was sudden, but her selfless protection of her children will forever be remembered.A celebration of life will be held on Friday, October 26, 2012 at 3:30 PM at the Grenada Berean Church.
