Katrina "Tina" Orahood

Lifelong Butte Valley resident Katrina Gail (Holbrook) Orahood passed away on Friday, September 17, 2010. Tina, as she was known to all, along with her twin brother Kenny, was born to Kenneth Holbrook and Anne (Eskildsen) Holbrook on February 4, 1948. Tina grew up on the family ranch in Butte Valley. She was educated at Macdoel Elementary School and Butte Valley High School. As a kid, Tina was a tomboy who loved to ride horses and play baseball. She loved music, playing piano and singing with her sisters Lynda and Sylvia in church and at community gatherings. As she grew up, Scoliosis prohibited her from doing many of the activities she loved, but she still did her best to make the most of life. She never complained and always made time for others. She was known for her kindness and positive attitude no matter the challenges she faced. She was an accomplished seamstress and was often called upon to duplicate the latest styles for her friends and relatives. She played Bunco on occasion and had a large circle of friends including her good friends Mary Barnett, Sandy Hamilton and Jean Wentz, with whom she spoke frequently. Even when she couldn't get out, she always kept in touch by phone or mail. You could always count on a letter or card from Tina for every special occasion. Tina was known as the family photographer and archivist, capturing every event on camera in spite of the protests from her subjects, documenting phone numbers and milestones in "Tina's Book", a worn out, treasured recording of every phone number and address for every person she ever knew. Tina loved sports, especially her football team the San Francisco 49ers and the Giants baseball team. She could often be found on the weekends watching up to five college football games at one time and always looked forward to the Super Bowl and the World Series. She was an excellent cook and always made sure her guests were well fed. Tina married the love of her life, Mike Orahood in Reno, Nevada, on September 26, 1982. Tina managed the books for the family farm for many years. She was blessed with two children, Wendy (Clevenger) Gibson and Wayne Clevenger. She was very proud of her children and loved to spend time with her grandchildren Alexandra Gibson, Garrett Gibson, Hailey Clevenger and Rory Clevenger. Tina passed away in her Red Rock home which faced her beloved Mt. Shasta. She will be dearly missed, but is now at peace with her Lord and Savior. Tina is survived by her husband Mike Orahood; daughter Wendy Gibson and husband Joe of Oregon City, OR; son, Wayne Clevenger and wife Anna of Lebanon, OR; sister Sylvia Copeland and husband Mickey of Dorris, CA; sister Lynda Mehring and husband Mike of Sisters, OR; aunt Melba Cave of Walnut Creek, CA; aunt Naoma Holley of Higdon, AL; nephew Wes Copeland and his son Corey; nieces Heather Wiseman, Shaleen Holbrook and her daughter Makayla; mother and father -in- law Shirley (Orahood) and Bill Nelson; sister and brother -in-law Pati and Bob Bengston; numerous cousins and extended family. Tina was preceded in death by her mother and father Kenneth and Anne Holbrook, her twin brother Kenny Holbrook, granddaughter Sara Gibson, father-in-law R.W. Orahood and good friend Frances Cross. A graveside farewell will be held at the Lakeview Cemetery in Madoel, CA at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 24, 2010.
