Keri Elizabeth Solus Casey

Surrounded by her family and close friends Keri passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at 12:23pm. Keri had a long, 5 year battle, of breast cancer. Even though she lost the battle she never stopped the fight. She inspired everyone, including the doctors and nurses trying to cure her. The last two and a half years Keri has been involved with clinical trials for breast cancer at UCSF. Keri was born in Mt Shasta, CA on a snowy day, July 15, 1976 to Richard and Carol Solus of Big Springs, CA and passed peacefully on a sunny day December 11, 2010 with her family and close friends. Keri married her high school sweetheart Brian Casey June 6, 1998. Keri and Brian moved to Petaluma 1994. They have two beautiful children, Dalton 6 years old and Brycelyn 5 years old. They have a wonderful home in Petaluma, CA. Keri was a graduate of Yreka High School and Heald Business College. She worked at Marin General Hospital for 10 years and has been retired for the last two and a half. Keri was very involved in every aspect of her family’s life, especially her husband and children. Keri was a volunteer at Corona Creek Elementary School up until her passing. She enjoyed attending her children’s and husbands games and practices. She was a member of the PTA, DAR, mothers club, boys and girls club. She also was very supportive of all of her nieces and nephews activities as well as the fire department in which her father is chief attending the annual BBQ. Keri enjoyed the family annual deer hunting, Buck dinner, Reno trip, family reunions for both hers and Brians extended family, Mayten BBQ and summer trips to the cabin at the river. Survivors include: Her husband Brian Casey, children Dalton Casey and Brycelyn Casey, her parents Richard and Carol Solus, grandfather Earl Deike, Siblings Kristin and Tim Varga, Kert and Joann Solus, Kay and Brandon Engelstad, mother-in-law and father-in-law Barbara and Craig Derricott, Siblings-in-law Mike and Sandra Casey, Lynette and Chris Grelet, Eve Casey and her best friend since childhood, Amy Solus. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her daughter Alyssa Casey, grandmother Evelyn Deike, Father-in-law Daniel Casey. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Grenada Community Berean Church in Grenada. Memorial contributions may be made in Keri's name. Girdner Funeral Chapel is helping the family with local arrangements and Daniels Chapel of the Roses assisted them with services in Petaluma.
