Lewis Eugene Seal Lewis Seal of Grenada passed away on Sunday, October 23 from pancreatic cancer. Lewis was born May 15, 1931 in Scott City, Kansas to parents, Lawrence F. and Mary M. Seal. He attended high school in Bonner’s Ferry, Idaho, where he was awarded the Idaho Panhandle Championship trophy for boxing in 1948. Lewis and Bernadine Johnson were married in Mullan, Idaho in 1950, where Lewis worked as a miner in the Sunshine Mine at Kellogg, Idaho. The couple had three children, Judy, Mike and Karen. Later the family moved to California where Lewis joined the Operating Engineers and was a Heavy Equipment Operator. He worked for many years all over California on freeway construction and dams. Lewis liked Siskiyou County and purchased a logging truck, working as an independent owner operator for many years until his retirement. In his spare time he raised Llamas at his Grenada Ranchette and enjoyed golfing at the Shasta Valley Golf Club. Lewis is survived by wife, Bernadine, Yreka, California; and three children. Daughter, Judy (Bob) Cornelius, Price, Utah; son, Mike (Sue) Seal, Edgewood, California; daughter, Karen (Dennis) Shoemaker, Moiese, Montana. Eight grandchildren, Sabrina (Kevin) Zollinger; Christopher (Michelle) Autry; Elizabeth (Joe) Carrasco; Michael Shawn (Alex) Seal; Jason Seal; Clay (Amanda) Shoemaker; Ashley Shoemaker; Jill (Les) Alejo; 18 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild with another due in February. Lewis was pre-deceased by parents Mary and Lawrence Seal and by one brother Lyle and leaves brothers Floyd, Marvin, Leo, Clarence, Terry, and sisters Joyce Shaffer and Vonna (Jeff) Anderson and many nieces and nephews. A private family interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Yreka, California. Please join the family for a Celebration of Lewis Seal’s Life to be held Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. at the Gazelle Grange, 25328 Gazelle Callahan Road, Gazelle, California. Dinner will be served.
