Linda Joyce Romaine

Linda Joyce Moore Romaine, 74, passed away on July 1, 2023 at her home in Fort Jones, CA. She was born on April 24, 1949 to Helen and Bud Moore in Oakland, CA. Linda was a beloved mother, grandmother, wife, sister, and friend. She brought joy and warmth to the lives of everyone around her. Her radiant smile and compassionate nature touched the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. Linda was a graduate of Richmond High and attended Contra Costa College where she excelled academically and made lasting friendships. She was known for her intelligence, creativity, and unwavering determination. Throughout her life, she pursued her passions with enthusiasm and achieved remarkable success grant writing and in the world of small California cities. Beyond her professional achievements, Linda had a profound impact on her community. She dedicated her time and energy to the Fort Jones Lions Club, the Scott Valley Bluegrass and Scott Valley Focus. This volunteering made a positive difference in the lives of others. Her selflessness and willingness to lend a helping hand inspired those around her. Linda was stricken with a rare genetic lung condition, which caused many years of living with a disability. But, fortunately in 2018 she received a double lung transplant at Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto, CA. This gift of life gave her additional years free from an oxygen machine and back to a life she thoroughly enjoyed. In her free time, Linda enjoyed watching the San Francisco Giants, music and gardening. She had an adventurous spirit and embraced every opportunity for new experiences. She loved to stay in the valley, immersing herself in different cultures and forging connections with people from all walks of life. Her open-mindedness and curiosity were contagious, and she encouraged others to embrace the beauty of the mountains. Her favorite day was Wednesday to hear Rusty play and Sunday to go to Callahan Church. Linda will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She will also be remembered fondly by those closest to her who admired her remarkable joy of life. A memorial service to celebrate Linda's life will be held on July 22, 2023 at 10am at the Callahan Church in Callahan and will continue at Sacred Heart Parish Hall in Fort Jones for a pot luck and music. Family and friends are invited to attend and share their memories and stories of her extraordinary life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Fort Jones Library, a cause that was close to Linda's heart. The Vestal Foundation is the nonprofit of the library and is a 5013c.
