Michael Lee Roy Deas

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father and husband, Mike Deas, who left us on November 20th, 2024, at the age of 65. Mike was born on July 13, 1959, in Yreka, California. He was a beacon of kindness, generosity, and unwavering support to all who knew him. A loving father, husband, and friend, Mike had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel seen, heard, and valued. He freely offered encouragement and love, helping others chase their dreams with an open heart and a gentle spirit. He spent his youth in Yreka, California, where his love for the great outdoors developed through local hunting and fishing. In 1972, his family moved to Eugene, Oregon, where he graduated from Sheldon High School in 1978. During his twenties, he worked for Coca-Cola while studying martial arts in his spare time. He had a passion for Taekwondo and Aikido. In 1995, he and his family moved back to California from Oregon so his children could enjoy the same outdoor activities he treasured during his upbringing. His love for the outdoors was passed down to his daughter and son. Mike worked at the Siskiyou Juvenile Hall from 2000 to 2010. During his time there, he made a significant impact on many individuals, and his legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those he helped and inspired. Mike dedicated himself wholeheartedly to everything he did. In 1987, Mike and his wife began a business now called Hancy Creations, Inc., based on his father-in-law's invention. This business grew and has become well-known to quilters and crafters worldwide. Mike's practical approach to problem-solving was essential to its success. He was a steadfast rock that many people relied on throughout his life. His unwavering support, love, and guidance extended beyond the confines of his household. He always made time to care for, listen to, and help his relatives through life's challenges. Mike is survived by his father, Lee Roy Deas; his loving wife of 37 years, Marilyn Deas; and their two children, Jamie Hayden and Raymond Deas, along with their spouses, Vose Hayden and Sofia (Fernandez) Deas; and four grandchildren, Kimber, Kassidy, Marshal, and Saoirse. He is remembered by his siblings Gerald Deas, Laurel Albright, and Kathy On and his many nieces and nephews. His legacy of selflessness and devotion will continue to resonate through the generations he leaves behind. A celebration of life will be held at Hawkinsville Hall on December 14, beginning at 1 p.m., where we will remember him and honor his profound impact on our lives.
