Patricia G. Perkins

Patricia G. Perkins passed away at her home in Lake Shastina on April 11, 2016 and rests now in the promise a new life with her Heavenly Father. She was loved by many and was affectionately known as “Honey” by her grandchildren and family. Patricia was born in Victorville, CA to Lacey Gay Bacon and Verla Greene Bacon on April 7, 1928, and grew up in San Bernardino with her family. She was the much loved big sister to her siblings, Jack L. Bacon and Karen K. Bacon. Patricia was married to Harold Willis, her first husband, shortly after her graduation from San Bernardino High School in 1945, and the two had five children together: Harold Willis II, Timothy Willis, April Willis, Brian Tad Willis, and Suzanne Shaw. She was divorced in 1977. She was a devoted mother and inspired her children, and was an example to all women to strive for excellence and the desire to achieve. Her accomplishments began shortly after graduation from high school when she received her degree in cosmetology. While she was raising her five children, she attended nursing school and received her RN degree from Valley College, San Bernardino in 1968. In 1985, she graduated with honors from the Cleveland Chiropractic College in Los Angeles. She practiced her profession in Redlands, California for five years before she retired. After retirement, she completed her California Real Estate license and worked for a short time in the real estate business in Yreka. When Patricia met Roger Perkins in 1994, she very willingly gave up her real estate career to pursue a beautiful relationship and marriage that lasted for 19 years to the man she loved. They built a home together, and lived happily in the Lake Shastina area overlooking the lake and with a beautiful view of Mt. Shasta. One of Patricia’s passions was her love of quilting. She made hundreds of quilts which she gave to her family, friends, and those in need. She was a member of the quilting guild, and won many blue ribbons and awards for her expert quilting techniques. She was also very close to her faith in Jesus, and was a life time member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Patricia is survived by her husband, Roger Perkins; her children, Harold Willis II, Timothy Willis, April Willis, and Suzanne Shaw; eight grandchildren; and five great grandchildren; her brother Jack Bacon of Reno, Nevada; and 5 nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held for Patricia at Girdner Funeral Chapel in Yreka on Friday, April 15 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Her funeral is planned for 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at the Yreka SDA Church, 346 Payne Lane in Yreka. Interment will be at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery.
