Richard Raymond Howard

Richard was born on March 22, 1974 to Richard and Roberta Howard. He had a big heart and had a spiritual aura that anyone who met him could feel right away. Some felt he was an old soul in a young man’s body. Richard lived all of his life in Trinidad, California. Richard was so proud of his son, Henry and spent time teaching him about his heritage. Richard considered this time precious and carried his picture with him always. Richard was very in touch with his Native heritage and became the best flint maker of his time. His fine spears, knives and regalia have been shared with family and friends. His work has been in many ceremonial gatherings and dances and it will be in many more. He was a Karuk/Yurok descendent. Richard especially loved to travel inland to our family property in Somes Bar, CA. Sadly; he did not make it home to us this time. We loved him and will miss him so very much. He will be remembered as a young man to us. He told us often how much he loved us and never hesitated to help anyone who needed it, be it family, friend or a stranger. Richard is survived by his son, Henry Allie Robinson of McKinleyville; his mother, Roberta Howard of Trinidad; his brother, Randall P. Christensen also of Trinidad; his sister and brother-in-law, Dwayne and Ellen Duncan; his niece and nephew, Bear and Callie all of McKinleyville; his Aunties and uncle, Juanita Wood, Kathy Lobotaz and Steven Howard all of Southern California; his step children, whom he loved as his own, Joe and Lyla Karolczuk and their mother Cambria Francis of McKinleyville; and his half-sister and brother, Coral and Michael. Recently, he had become close with Coral and went to see her often. He was also survived by many cousins and extended family that he had held close in his heart. Richard is resting in peace with his Grandma Marie Haight; his father, Richard Howard and his favorite Uncle Allie Davis. No one could fill his shoes in grandma’s eyes. Family and friends are invited to come and share stories and memories and song around the bon fire at a celebration of his life. It will be on June 29, 2012 at the home of his sister and brother-in-law Ellen and Dwayne Duncan at 1904 Pishka Ct., McKinleyville, CA. In lieu of flowers please bring a favorite dish, dessert, or drink. A memorial service may be planned at a later date.
