Timothy James Beck

Timothy James Beck passed away unexpectedly on November 30, 2016 at his home in Gazelle at the age of 49. Tim was born in Yreka on May 18, 1967 to James and Yvonne Beck. He was a sweet boy who spent most of his childhood playing outside. He loved his trucks and tractors, and spent his time wearing holes in his jeans. He attended Gold Street Elementary until the family moved to the ranch on Bogus Creek in 1973. He completed elementary school at Montague, and graduated from Yreka High School in 1985. Tim was very active in 4-H and FFA, where he raised animals and learned welding and equipment repair. After high school, Tim entered the Navy. After basic training, he served four years at the Naval Base Kitsap – Bremerton, Washington. Tim met Christi Nielsen in 2001 and found a kindred spirit. They loved being in the mountains, fishing, crabbing, and exploring the countryside. Tim and Chris were married in 2004 and made their home in Gazelle. Tim still enjoyed his trucks and tractors, and had a business with his excavator and backhoe, as well as welding. Tim and Chris would ride their horses, and they always enjoyed a good branding. Tim loved the outdoors, and found his niche in serving the agricultural communities as the Water Master for Shasta Valley. He was well like by his co-workers at the Resource Conservation District and GEI Consulting. Tim had a passion for both fire and water, and was called out to work on numerous fires. He was known for wearing his wide brim hat, and for waving at everybody he encountered while driving. When asked how he was, his trademark phrase was “ ’nuther day in paradise.” Tim was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, George and Leta Beck, and maternal grandparents, James and Barbara Richter. He is survived by his wife, Chris; his parents, James and Yvonne Beck; his sister, Stacey (Sam) Jackson and their children Clay, Cole, and Lacey; his sons, Justin Pearce, Tom Nielsen Jr., Travis Nielsen, and Tim (Elizabeth) Nielsen and grandson Theo; daughter Lyndsey Pearce; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Gazelle Grange.
