Trudy June Meadows

Trudy Meadows passed away on Friday, December 17, 2021 in Yreka at the age of 64. Trudy was born in Ely, Nevada on May 27, 1957 to her parents, June and Jack Spencer, and 5 older siblings Norma, John, Rose Ann, Dallas, and Steven. In 1963, Trudy moved with her family to Forks of Salmon, California. There she developed a deep and abiding love for the canyons, mountains, and valleys of Siskiyou County, a place she would from then on always call home. As a child, Trudy enjoyed school and developed a love for science and the arts. She would often share stories of community dances, hunting, fishing trips with her mom, family and cats and exploring in the beautiful Salmon River. Trudy graduated from Yreka High School in 1975, where she was active in band and theater. She would become a celebrated musician and actress performing in countless community productions through the years, including being a featured performer as part of the "Wild" ensembles for over 30 years. Known particularly for her beautiful singing voice, Trudy performed both as a soloist and a skilled harmony singer, treating audiences with her sisters, Jeezo Beezo and a variety of musical casts and ensembles. Trudy met and married her husband while attending College of the Siskiyous and soon built a life and family, welcoming their two daughters. She would later earn her Masters in Teaching from Southern Oregon University. As a mother, grandmother, aunt and teacher, she shared her love for nature, art and music. She will be remembered as being happiest at family picnics, where she would continue to build and share her unique and deep knowledge of the local ecology and history, and striving to capture the beauty of the area and family through her drawings, embroidery, or even just playing her guitar or ukulele from the riverside and mountaintops. Trudy is survived by husband of 44 years, Bill Meadows; her two daughters Sage Meadows and Jasmine Turk-Bly; grandchildren Sadie Hampton and Sawyer Hampton; son-in-laws David Hampton and Robert Turk-Bly; sisters Rose Ann Olson, Dallas Gulrich, and brother Steven Spencer; brother-in-law Robert Meadows and sister-in-law Lyn Meadows; nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; friends and long time neighbors in Yreka. She was loved and will be missed by her 2 beloved cats, Woody, a blue point Siamese, Honey, an oriental shorthair, and her standard poodle, Stihl. Preceding her in death was her mother June Rose Spencer and her father Jack Spencer; her sister Norma Spencer and brother John Spencer. We invite her friends and loved ones to join the family to celebrate her life on May 29, 2022 1:00-4:00 to share our favorite stories about her, display her art, eat her favorite foods, and make music with guitars, ukuleles and voices together in her honor.
