William "Bill" John Parry Jr.

William "Bill" John Parry, Jr. was born to William John Parry & Mary (Johnson-Lott) Parry on September 6, 1941 in Binghamton, New York. His family relocated to the bay area when he was 5 years old. He joined the United States Navy ROTC in 1959 and graduated from Tennyson High School in Hayward in 1960. He became active duty in the Navy in 1961 and served as a Chief Petty Officer with the Sea-Bee's M-16-11 until 1963. He was proud to have served as a Vietnam War Veteran. He married the love of his life, Sylvia Maynard (Parry) on August 22, 1964 and together they raised 4 beautiful children Rebecca Meador (Chuck) of Columbia, Louisiana, Kathleen Stewart (Brian) of Woodland, California, William Parry (Patti) of Etna, CA, and Robert Parry (Trista) of Happy Camp. The family moved to Happy Camp on November 18, 1978 where he owned and operated B & B Automotive, he later worked for Noranda Mine, and for Stone Forest Containers sawmill. He finished his career by retiring from the United States Forest Service mechanic shop in 2003. Bill spent his life committed to community service. He served as a Hayward Reserve Police Officer Badge # 245, president of Tracy Wildlife Association, member of the Golden Anchor Boat Club in Tracy, California (1976), California Hunter Safety Instructor for 35 years, he was a lifetime member of VFW, president of the Happy Camp High School Booster Club, member of the Happy Camp Lions Club, president of the Happy Camp Health Services Board, he was a Siskiyou County Deputy Constable Volunteer in Happy Camp, a founding member of Blacktail Archery Club, Assistant Fire Chief & Fireman for the Happy Camp Volunteer Fire Department. He was an avid outdoorsman in his younger days, he loved duck and goose hunting, watersports, boating, waterskiing, camping, deer hunting, and archery. Although he truly enjoyed these hobbies nothing was more important to him than his family. Bill passed away on December 22, 2017 at his home in Happy Camp. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia, of 53 years, his sister Susan Zabor, 4 children, 9 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren (with 2 more on the way), as well as many nieces, nephews, and life-long friends. Services will be held on Saturday December 30 at 2:00 pm at the Happy Camp Grange Hall with a potluck to follow.
