William "Bill" Joseph Depew

Bill (William) Joseph Depew September 26, 1940 to July 11, 2010 Bill Depew, a resident of Siskiyou County for most of his life, passed from this world to the next on Sunday afternoon, July 11, 2010, after a short illness. Bill was able to pass on peacefully from his home, with his wife and family by his side and was made as comfortable as possible by his loving family and hospice care. Bill was loved by all who took the time to know him. He will be greatly missed by his many friends and especially by his loving family. Bills family and friends will remember his goofy wisdom and witty sense of humor that always made us smile and laugh. Born in Sacramento, Bill was raised on a Dairy farm in Etna, CA as an only son to Kenneth and Kathleen Depew. He was a graduate of Etna High School. Throughout his life he held many different jobs. As a young man he worked with helicopters, and logging. After that, for Approximately 20 years, he worked at the AP Cattle Ranch as a ranch hand and eventually obtained the position of foreman. After Bill and his wife Betty moved into Yreka, he worked as a tow truck driver, for Bruce’s Towing. In the later part of his life, he worked for Hertz Car Rentals, as a driver, where he worked almost up until the day he passed on. Bill enjoyed all sports, but was especially fond of baseball and football. Although he was an avid Atlanta Braves fan, he watched every baseball game he could all season, every season. He was also one of the many Oakland Raider fans. As a lover of the outdoors, Bill spent much of his free time hunting, fishing, camping, and riding motorcycles and quads with his family. For many years, Bill and his wife Betty enjoyed touring the west coast and Canada on their motorcycle. Bill enjoyed spending time with his friends at Parsons Gun Shop and shooting at the range. Strong and determined, he never thought twice about what needed to be done and he made sure that his family was always taken care of, no matter what. Bill is survived by his wife of 42 years, Betty Depew; Step-daughter Vicki Johnson; Granddaughter Jennifer and her husband Tim Aseltine; Great-grandson Andrew William Aseltine and wife Shawna Aseltine & Great-Great-Grandson, Emmett Aseltine, Great-Grandaughter Megan Perdue and husband Richie Perdue, Grandson Joshua and his wife Jennifer Johnson; and Great-Grandchildren, Chaz Jones-Johnson, Nelson Johnson, Kristopher Johnson, Keylia Collins & Kaylee Christen. Step-son Buck and his wife Jan Anderson, granddaughter Julie Anderson, Grandchildren, Ronnie Kness & wife Shawnna (Great-Grandchildren: Cianna, Marcus, Mijka, RoShawn, Tia, Blue, Ronny & Great-Great-Grandson: Nakai) Janine Kness (Great-Grandchildren: Hunter, Dupree & Jada), Joby Kness (Great-Grandchildren: Jimmie Christine, Tres, Beau & Manaya); Buck Kness Jr. (Grandchildren: Austin & Emily). Bill was predeceased by his parents Kenneth and Kathleen Depew and Grandson, Jimmy Watah Bill (Dad, Grandad, Great-Grandad & Great-Great-Grandad), Although you will be missed greatly, you will forever be carried in our hearts, until we see each other again!
