"Ben" John Benjamin Foster

John Benjamin “Ben” Foster left this earth to join his Grandma “Max” on Tuesday, August 30, 2011. Ben lived his 34 years as a loving son, dedicated husband, devoted father, and a good friend to many. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed racing, archery, hunting, camping, water sports, and softball. If it was outdoors, you can bet that he was there ready to play. One of Ben’s best attributes was his sense of humor which brought so many smiles and laughter to all who knew him. He had an immense love of life, which Ben shared with all. Ben and his wife, Celeste, were blessed with a second family of numerous friends who shared a deep connection of love and respect for one another. Surely, memories and countless stories will be retold for lifetimes to come. Ben was a 1995 graduate of Yreka High School. After high school, he completed further education towards a career as a Journeyman Operator Mechanic working for PacifiCorp. He lived all but a few years in Yreka and the surrounding area. He married the love of his life, Celeste Girod, and together they shared two beautiful daughters: Samantha Ann (13) and Jessie Lynn (3). Ben is deeply loved and will be missed by his devoted wife, Celeste, their daughters, Samantha and Jessie (Yreka); mother and father, John & Nancy Foster (Yreka); grandmother, Nancy Wemple (Chico); grandparents, Larry & Shirley Foster (Central Point); in-laws, Lacey Williams & Tom Dunlap; Grandma Berta Dunlap (Yreka); Grandpa Brent Williams (Yreka); father-in-law, Ken Girod and grandmother, Dorothy Girod (Arizona); brother and sister-in-law, Joe & Tanja Groesbeck, and nephew, Keith (San Diego); and sister in-law, Natalie Killick (Yreka). Aunts and Uncles include: Jimmy & Jolene Foster (Yreka), Larry & Cindy Foster (Klamath Falls), Cindy Heffren (Chico), Rich & Susie Colwell (Galt), and Larry & Frankie Mulloy (Yreka). Ben has also left behind several cousins and friends who will miss him greatly. A celebration of Ben’s life will be held at the Miner’s Inn Convention Center in Yreka, with a memorial service followed by a “pot luck” reception at 6:00pm, Friday, September 2, 2011. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the family at the “Benefit for Ben Foster” account at Siskiyou Central Credit Union in Yreka. Girdner Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.
