Blanche Marion Kegg

Blanche Marion Kegg passed away at her home on the morning of May 14, 2012. She had multiple health complications for the past ten years and was graciously cared for by her daughter, Donna. Although her passing was sudden, Blanche lived a long life of 86 years. Blanche was born September 14, 1925 to Antionio and Lyda Pimentel in Big Springs. She was one of eight children born to the Pimentel family; a family known for its Dairy farming. As a young adult, Blance enjoyed working as a waitress. Her waitressing career covered numerous restaurants. She would tell stories of her employment at the Weed Hotel to the Shasta Valley Inn (located in Grenada) and everything in between. For 25 years, Blanche helped support her family as a pharmaceutical clerk at Kahoe Drugstore in Portola, California. She met and married Thomas C. Kegg and they had a wonderful marriage. Together they had three children, identical twins, Donna and Diane and son, Michael. Sadly, Diane passed away at the young age of 4 to Leukemia. Many people enjoyed Blanche’s sparky, spit-fire demeanor accompanied by her good sense of humor and unique love. She was a very creative person and extremely artistic. She collected antiques and enjoyed roses, birds, and beautiful gardens. Mostly, she enjoyed anything that had to do with her two grandsons, Colton and Brandon or her great grandson, Devin. Blanche was preceded in death by her daughter, Diane; her parents, Tony and Lyda; her husband, Tom and six of her siblings, Inez Silva, Joe Pimentel, Mabel McCarty, Gilbert Pimentel, Tony (Bud) Pimentel, and Laura Acquistapace. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Donna & Patrick Griffin of Big Springs; her son and daughter-in-law, Michael & Stephanie Kegg of Merrill, OR; her grandson and great grandson, Colton & Devin Griffin of Yreka; her grandson & his fiancée, Brandon Griffin & Shannon Loftus of Grenada; her only surviving sister, Mary Jane Eastlick of Montague along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. You will forever be in our hearts and we will miss you! A memorial service is scheduled for 10:00 AM, this Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Girdner Funeral Chapel. Following will be a potluck in Upper Greenhorn Park. Hamburgers (Grandma’s favorite) and Hot Dogs will be provided. If you would like to bring a side dish or dessert, it would be appreciated. The family would like to thank Dr. Riger and Staff for the love and care they provided Blanche throughout the years.
