Cora Elizabeth Madole

Cora Elizabeth Madole went to be with her Heavenly Father on June 18th, 2018. She was born on January 25th, 1930 in Atchinson County, Missouri to Lester and Ruth Smith. Cora lived in Hamburg, Iowa before moving to Pomona, California in 1933. Cora graduated from Chino High School and married her high school sweetheart Orin “Doc” Madole on August 24th, 1947. They were married for 61 and a half years. She moved with her husband and family to Scott Valley in 1973 and then to Montague in 1989. Throughout these years she supported her husband in farming, providing many enjoyable noon meals to workers. Cora resided in Montague until her passing and greatly enjoyed the company of her neighbors Velma and Cliff Rodgers and Carolyn Houghton. Cora was a devoted wife and a woman of the Lord. She took great satisfaction in preparing meals and desserts for members of her church, her community, and for every holiday gathering. Cora took great pride in her family and said that, “If we have not our family left on this earth when we go, then we have not left a legacy.” Due to Doc and Cora’s union and their commitment to their family, the world was enriched by their presence and their legacy with three children, seven grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren. Cora was preceded in death by her father, mother, brothers Ardith and Orvis, sister Maxine, husband Doc, son-in-law Mike Bouris, and great-grandson Paul Isbell. Cora is survived by her daughter Lora Elese Bouris, daughter and son-in law Marcia and John Isbell, son and daughter-in-law Darrell and Anna Madole. Grandma Cora will be greatly missed by her seven grandchildren, their spouses, and sixteen great-grandchildren. Coleen, Stefan, Max, and Zoe Montgomery; Stephanie, Jerry, James, Hannah, and Caroline Horwedel; Lynette, Scott, Dylan, and Sydney Montgomery; Raylene, Jess, Mason, and Shelby Lang; Clayton, Hallie, Charles, and Andrew Madole; Gwen, Andrew, Micah, Evelyn, and Ben Pool; and Bradley, Joy, Carter, and Miles Isbell. A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 30th at the Fort Jones Cemetery at 11am. In honor of Cora’s love of potlucks and baking, a potluck celebration will follow at the home of John and Marcia Isbell at 138 Forest Walk, Etna, CA. Cora’s family will provide an assortment of desserts. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Madrone Hospice House, 255 Collier Circle, Yreka, CA 96097.
