Donna Jean Sloan

Donna Sloan passed away on February 17, 2026 at the age of 65. Donna was born on May 9, 1960 in San Jose, California to David Elmer Sloan and Virginia Haskell Sloan. Donna moved with her mother to the family ranch in Scott Valley at the age of three. Donna spent her school years living in Fort Jones, California, where she attended Fort Jones Elementary School and Etna High School, graduating from EHS in 1978. Growing up in Scott Valley, Donna spent fun times with her cousins and friends doing the things she enjoyed. Donna loved muscle cars, horses, music, matchbox cars, trips to Disneyland and cooking. Donna was always ready for a road trip or a cruise around town with the music on full blast. She enjoyed watching old westerns and reading western stories and books. After high school, Donna spent time living in Alaska, New Mexico and the Bay Area in California, where her life and adventures as an adult began. Living in different places allowed her to explore and experience many new things. Aside from fun and travel, Donna's true and gifted talent as an artist is her greatest legacy. Donna was a professional that made a career out of her artistic abilities. She was a sculptor and a painter and could mold, create or make anything she set her mind to. Her paintings are lifelike and often appear to be photographs; they are so accurate. Her unmatched talent for sculpting and painting model horses was her full-time job. Donna also made playful, cartoonish animals from clay as another way to share her artistic self. Her art will continue to be cherished around the world by her customers and anyone that has the chance to encounter her work. Donna will be deeply missed by her friends and family. She was preceded in death by her parents, David Sloan and Virginia Haskell George, and her grandparents. Donna is lovingly survived by her favorite aunts, Barbara Soskin and Jeanie Elam Dickinson, her Uncle, Ken Dickinson. Her cousins, Amy Elam Stacher, Lindsey Stacher Jenner, Addison Jenner, Bradley Jenner, Trevor, Katie and Millie Jean Stacher, Julie Elam Hogun, Harrison and Sarah Hogun, Hayden Hogun, Sadie Hogun and Dalton Fraser, Tammy Elam Dean and Andy Dean, Brittany Dean Meyer and Nicholas Meyer, Briann Dean, Albert, Genny, Ashton, Xander and Ryder Elam. A graveside service and celebration of Donna's life will be held at the Etna cemetery on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at 11 AM.
