Dorothy Edith Carter

Dorothy Edith Carter passed away October 3, 2018 at Shasta View Estates in Weed while surrounded by her loving family and friends. Dorothy was born November 4, 1929 to William and Jennie (Velma) Speer. She had five siblings: William (Bill), Woodrow (Woody), Allen (Butch), Roger, and her sister, Ruth. All have preceded Dorothy in death, with exception of her youngest brother, Roger. Dorothy leaves her devoted husband, Paul Carter, Jr., and four children: James Brunello Jr., Margie (Bill) Hays, Shirley Brunello, and Mary (Arnold) Bennett. She also leaves 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. For several years of her long life, Dorothy was a working co-owner of the Weed Bakery and Nite-Cap Lounge. She was also employed by International Paper Co. as a lumber worker for 10 years. Besides her love of family and friends, one of her greatest joys was being a part of the Weed Assembly of God congregation. She so loved to listen to the word of the Lord from Pastor Keith Chilson, and reading from the Bible daily gave her peace of heart. In honor of Dorothy, a Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 19, 2018 at the Weed Assembly of God. Pastors Danny Formhals Sr. and Keith Chilson will officiate. In lieu of flowers, Paul requests contributions be made to the Humane Society, or a charity of your choosing. The following words are an expression of love from her children as they grieve the loss of their mother: We thank you, Heavenly Father, for the precious life of our mother, Dorothy, whose very name means “Gift from God,” and she truly was. She graced us for many years with her genuine love for family and friends. Her beautiful smile and contagious laughter will be in all our hearts forever. Our mother had so very many God-given talents: her deep faith in God, her ability to pray unceasingly, her beautiful voice in song, and her love of music. We all experienced her delicious meals she cooked for family, friends, and her church. She made us all feel special. In holy remembrance of our mother and grandmother, we dedicate this beautiful prayer: Eternal God in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion is inexhaustible, look kindly upon us, that in difficult moments we might not despair nor become despondent, but with great confidence, submit ourselves to your holy will, which is love and mercy itself. “In the end there are three things that last – faith, hope, and love. And the greatest of these is love.” – I Cor. 13:13. Thank you, Mom, for teaching us to love.
