George Anthony Milne

George was born January 18th, 1938 in Yreka California to Anthony Mathias Milne and Fern Lavere Milne. He was raised in Scott Bar, California until he was 15 years old, where he grew up hunting, fishing, and gold mining. His family then moved to Sacramento, California, where he met his wife, Judy, and raised his three devoted children. He worked for many years as a journeyman plumber as a member of Union 447, and owned and operated his own plumbing and backhoe business. He returned to Scott Bar in 1994 to his beloved Siskiyou mountains, river, and to the very home that he grew up in on the Scott River. George passed away on his own terms, at home surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, October 24, 2012. George was tough on the outside, with a heart of gold. He was an independent and proud man who loved visiting with his friends, neighbors, and family. Referred to by many as the “Mayor of Scott Bar,” he enjoyed patrolling the mountain roads in his golf-cart with his dogs in the back. All of his life, George had a deep love of animals. His dear cat, Ollie, was a constant companion through the last few years of his life. He had a raucous sense of humor, and enjoyed all things out of doors. In his younger years he enjoyed camping, jeeping, boating, skiing, hunting, fishing, shooting, citizen band radio, and until his final days he loved nothing more than a good apple pie. George is survived by his wife Judy Elizabeth Sayles Milne; His three children, Elizabeth Ann Freese (Husband Laurence Freese), George Anthony Milne III (Wife Lori Milne), Kristin Eileen Milne Raymond (Husband Sean Raymond); Ten Grandchildren, Marissa Freese, Nicholas Freese (Wife Deanna Freese), Mikayla Raymond, Paige McGuire, Austin Raymond, Victoria Raymond, Ryleigh McGuire, Jack Raymond, and Emma Milne;Two Great-Grandchildren, Autumn Freese and CJ Freese; His brother, Anthony (Sandy) Mathias Milne (wife Mary Ellen Milne); His nieces, Tracy Leach and Laura Miller; and His loyal and adored cat, Ollie. His funeral service will be held Saturday, November 3rd at 10:00 AM at the Fort Jones Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest beside his much-loved grandfather, George Anthony Milne I.
