Gina Henson

Gina Henson, age 80, of Yreka, traded her baking, cooking, and sewing skills for a pair of angel wings on Sunday, June 16th, 2019. Passing into the arms of her loving savior, Gina left her beloved family and friends with a piece of her infectious personality and kind soul. A memorial service will be held to celebrate her life on Saturday, June 29th, 2019, at 11:00 am at the Nazarene Church in Yreka. Once a “little Italian girl from Angel Valley,” as portrayed by Gina’s loving husband Ron Henson, Gina was born to Pete and Yolanda Rossetto on April 30th, 1939 in Weed. Raised in Weed, Gina was described as a “spunky and spicy” girl and even participated as a majorette for Weed High School’s band. Weed was also the place she met and married the love of her life, Ron Henson, and where their 63 years of love began to grow. The two went on to raise three children of their own: Daniel, Dana, and Koye. Moving to Yreka in 1965, the Henson’s became a well-known family throughout the town, due in large part because of Gina, who was notorious for her amiable and attentive personality. A loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Gina always put the needs of her loved ones before her own. Making sure those needs were met, Gina devoted her many skills to serving others, while also faithfully serving the Lord. Gina attended church each Sunday and passionately read her bible. An avid baker, Gina’s family and friends got the pleasure of tasting her assortment of treats and sweets she so willingly granted to them. From pies and cookies to so much more, each of Gina’s goodies were baked with love, along with a hint of her contagious character. A bit of an outdoors enthusiast, Gina also enjoyed gardening, camping, blackberry picking, hunting, and fishing. Gina is survived by her husband Ron, son Dan Henson (wife Penny), daughter Dana York (husband Richard), daughter Koye Chapman (husband Mark), 6 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and siblings Josie Rizzo, Dino Rossetto, and Bruna Guerra who intend to live their lives with her in mind. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Gina’s name to the American Heart Association or the Lupus Foundation of Northern California.
