Harvey Windell Crook

Harvey Windell Crook was called home to be with the Lord on December 21, 2010. Born in Sulphur, Arkansas on August 15, 1940 to Thomas Virgil Crook and Ruby May Crook, he was welcomed by his sister Mary and brother Tom. A country boy at heart, Harvey was raised on farms in various areas throughout Arkansas and attended school in Dyess, AR. At age 19, he moved to McKinleyville, California where he met and married his first wife, Charlsie Vaughn and took up the carpentry trade. In 1962, their daughter Lori Lynn Crook was born. After almost ten years together, Harvey and Charlsie parted ways. In 1973, Harvey married Jodene Carson and welcomed into his life her two daughters Connie and Jeannie. Harvey and Jodene lived in McKinleyville, CA where he moved into the millwright trade and raised Connie and Jeannie as his own. He and Jodene were married for over 16 years before she passed away in 1989. In 1995, Judy Jaillett stole Harvey’s heart and they were married on May 18, 1998 and lived together in Etna, California. Upon marrying Judy, Harvey welcomed two more daughters, Samantha and Randi, into his life - making the number of daughters five. He retired from the Millwrights Union Local 102 to live in Etna where he and Judy lived until his passing. Harvey loved many activities: carpentry, fighting, fishing, gambling, golfing, hunting, reloading, welding, and joke telling. He entertained those who knew him with his passion for politics and his ability to recall dates and times from his colorful life. He touched those who knew him and will be dearly missed by all. Harvey is survived by his wife Judy Crook, sister Mary Jewell of LaVaca, AR., and sister-in-law Joan Crook of Sacramento Ca., five daughters, Lori Crook of McKinleyville, CA., Connie Ibarra of Lodi, CA., Jeannie Kauffman of Eureka, CA., Samantha Hollinger of Sacramento, CA., and Randi Deala of Etna, CA, and their respective spouses. In addition, Harvey was grandfather to Amanda Galatsatos of Acampo, CA., Jaycie Coburn of Leadville Co., Darian Hollinger of Sacramento, CA., Tucker and Grace Deala of Etna, CA., and great-grandchildren Kolin Ibarra, George Galatsatos and Madison Galatsatos - all of Acampo, CA. Harvey had numerous nieces and one nephew and many Great- nieces and great-nephews He joins his father Tom, mother Ruby, brother Thomas Wayne and late wife, Jodene, in Heaven. Services will be held at Girdner Funeral Chapel in Yreka, CA., on Wednesday, December 29th at 1:00 p.m., followed by interment at Etna Cemetery in Etna, CA. A celebration of life will be held at the Valley Oaks Seniors Center in Greenview, CA., following the interment. All who knew him are invited to attend.
