John Patrick Bell Sr.

John Patrick Bell, Sr. died suddenly in the early morning of Sunday, November 6th, 2022 at the age of 60. A beloved father, brother, husband, cousin, uncle, and friend, John was also a force in the concrete industry and was well known in the world of construction. He leaves behind his wife, Maureen Teresa Bell, daughter, Meghan Elaine Bell, and son, John "Jack" Patrick Bell, Jr. Born in Mt. Shasta on November 29th, 1961, John grew up in Weed and Edgewood with his mother, Nellie "Grace" Bell, father, Charles "Chuck" Bell, and his five brothers and sisters, Constance, Marie, Susan, Charles and Dan. John retained friendships from his childhood throughout his life, and will be missed by many in Weed, Edgewood, and the surrounding areas. He attended College of the Siskiyous in Weed, then transferred to California State University, Chico where he earned a degree in construction. John went on to be somewhat prolific in the construction industry. He worked for many years for Urata and Sons, before striking out on his own and founding Concrete North alongside friend and business partner Jim Grimes. John returned to work for Urata and Sons after some time, and continued to work there, commuting bi-weekly from Sacramento to Siskiyou county, until he died, though he had begun to make preparations for his retirement. His sudden passing was a shock to all who knew him. John was an avid lover of nature, and intended to retire in his childhood home of Siskiyou County. He loved the mountains, especially Mt. Shasta, and passed that love of nature down to his children. John also loved animals, and leaves behind a number of dogs and cats whom he loved and cared for.As part of his love of nature, John also loved science and learning about the world around him. He loved space and the ocean, and generally was quite a curious and intelligent person. He liked to hunt, and had a collection of decoy ducks. Like his father, he was interested in geology, and passed that hobby down to his daughter, who has more rocks than she knows what to do with. John also collected firearms. He took his children hunting, fishing, and camping around Mt. Shasta and throughout northern California and the Pacific Northwest. On behalf of his family, friends, colleagues, and all whose lives he touched, John will be sorely missed. No services are planned at this time.
