Karen Burrone

Karen Burrone of Fort Jones went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012. She spent the past four years preparing her family for her departure from this world. She courageously battled cancer during this time and fought for more time with those she loved. Karen was born in Boulder, Colo. on Jan. 11, 1961 and spent her youth in Santa Clara, Calif. She was the older sister to Diane and Tonya. She attended Chico State and obtained a bachelor’s degree in business management and graduated with honors. She first met her husband John in 1982 and they later married on July 27, 1991. Karen and John had their four children Tyler, Natessa, Tara and Tania and spent the next 25 years in Chico. Karen’s passion while in Chico was coaching the Durham Tiger Turners competitive jump rope team. She traveled with her daughters and other team members to numerous competitions across the nation where her team dominated at the Junior Olympics. Karen ran the office side of their construction business and helped begin the family ranching operation. She was instrumental in helping John realize his dream of returning to Siskiyou County in January of 2008 to raise their family and run 4T Hay and Cattle Ranch. Karen quickly became involved in the Scott Valley community. She was her children’s number one fan as they participated in baseball, softball, rodeo, 4-H and FFA. She could be seen at these events supporting her children with a positive attitude no matter how she felt on that day. During her illness, Karen did her best to ensure her family rarely knew of any stress or pain she endured. She spent a lifetime taking care of others and helping them navigate the lessons of life. Everything Karen did was to help those around her become better people. Karen new Jesus as her savior and drew many closer to Christ through her example of faith. All are welcome to the graveside service at Fort Jones Cemetery on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012 at 1 p.m. and a celebration of Karen’s life at the Scott Valley Berean Church at 3 p.m. A reception will follow at the church.
