Michael Kenny Crebbin

Michael Crebbin passed away November 13, 2011. He had been battling Multiple Myeloma, Lung Cancer, and Amyloids for over 3 years. At the time of his passing, he and his wife Carol had just finished lunch with friends in Williams, California. He enjoyed life every day and was indeed a champion. Michael Kenny Crebbin was born October 10, 1936 to Alfred and Helen Rohrer Crebbin in Yreka, California. Mike has been a life- long resident of Siskiyou County. He graduated from Yreka High School in 1954 and went to college. He served in the United States Army from 1956-1957 and was stationed in Germany. After his time in the service he returned to college at Cal-Poly, later returning to the family ranch in Little Shasta. In 1853, the Rohrer family was the first family to settle and establish their ranch in the Little Shasta Valley. Mike married Sandra McGilvray and they had two daughters, Colleen Alvarez of Little Shasta and Susan Crebbin of Redlands, California. This marriage ended in 1992. Mike married Carol Hedin Hume Cunningham in 1994. Carol was the mother of Kelly Tyburski and David Hume both living with their families in Ventura. Carol died in 1999 of pancreatic cancer. Mike was a conservative person, always counting the cost and looking forward to the future. He improved his cow/calf operation over the years and entered into the Harris Ranch Program. He purchased land from his mother, uncles, and various other people in order to improve his life-long dream. His fences, corrals, homes, out buildings and meadows were all improved under his stewardship. He was a good neighbor and enjoyed people. In 2007 Mike and Carol Petersen Fowler were married. Carol is the mother of Margot Larson and family living in Florida, Celeste Fowler of Lake Shastina, Paulette Pettis of Florida and Marcie Harper of Spokane, Washinton. When the two families were brought together, it was a natural fit on both sides and the two families became one. After a year of marriage, Mike was diagnosed with cancer. This changed their way of life but the ranch remained Mike’s passion. Fishing in Alaska was now in the past but the Rogue, Umpqua, and Columbia were places this couple could be found enjoying life. Abigail and Alejandra Alvarez, his two granddaughters, were the apple of his eye, and as such he spent a lot of time with them. Mike was a 30 year member of Montague Rotary and Montague Water District. He served on numerous boards including: Siskiyou County Cattleman, Montague Fire District, Fairchild Medical Center Foundation, and was Past President of the Siskiyou County Farm Bureau. He also served on the County Planning Commision and attended both Little Shasta Community Church and Grenada Berean. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Al and Helen; his two brothers, Pete and Bill; and his second wife, Carol. Mike is survived by his wife Carol of Little Shasta; his daughters and son-in-laws, Colleen and Benny Alvarez, Margot & Matt Larson, Marcie and Dan Harper, Susan Crebbin, Celeste Fowler, and Paulette Pettis; his granddaughters, Abigail and Alejandra Alvarez. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at 10:30 AM at the Grenada Community Berean Church with Doctor Robert Shofner, Pastor John Witzig, and Pastor Benito (Benny) Alvarez officiating. A time of fellowship will follow the service with cowboy poetry and memories of Mike to be shared by all.
