Oliver Linville Solus

Oliver Linville Solus came into this world January 10, 2000 at 8:11pm. He was born to Matthew Frank Solus and Laurel Blankenship Solus in Medford, Oregon. Over the years, Oliver was heavily influenced by people that he loved. His mom, grandmother, aunt and close family friends inspired and fostered in him a love of reading. He loved ALL different types of literature. He was a true history buff with a great grasp on all things World War II. Being of the "techy" generation he was always in his phone and computer to stay up on the news. Current events were of particular interest to him and there was not much going on in the world that he didn't know about. Music was a great love of his as well. He had varied and eclectic tastes and would sing along with all types of music. Oliver was also raised in the outdoors and loved being in nature. He got his start in the great outdoors early. At 3 years old he made his first trek off of Whale Back. He was strapped to his dads back in a pack but also hiked down a good deal of the mountain himself. He grew up to hunt often with family and in recent years could be found hunting with his dad and grandpa. From a young age he loved to play for hours in a dirt pile with his heavy equipment die cast models. Pieces and parts of those models can still be found in the sand pile behind his dad's house to this day. Picnics at Whitney Creek with family often found Oliver playing with those models and trucks and completely covered in mud. All of these experiences are what led to his passion for running heavy equipment which was his chosen profession. His travels with family usually were centered around the great outdoors. He went with his mom on a trip to Idaho to visit family. He enjoyed playing with cousins and went and visited the hot springs. His mom remembers him as a funny and entertaining travel companion. He also went on an excursion with his grandmother and aunt, visiting Glacier National Park and Yellowstone. After visiting Whitefish, Montana, he was inspired to become an architect. He was very impressed with his travels into the great outdoors, whether it was in play or work, and lived his life true to that. His favorite quote is from the author John Muir. "And into the forest I go to lose my mind and find my soul" Oliver is survived by his mother Laurel Solus of Medford, Oregon, his father Matthew Solus of Yreka, grandparents; Don and Kari Solus of Edgewood, Carol Layton of Tennant and Tim Layton of Tennant. He is loved and remembered by numerous other family members and friends. He will be missed. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Miner's Inn Convention Center in Yreka on Saturday, June 4, 2022 from 2 to 6 PM.
