Robert "Bob" Noel

Cherished husband, father, and grandfather, Robert “Bob” Noel of Hornbrook, passed peacefully in his home on August 31, 2026. A kind and loving man, Bob will be remembered for his spirit of generosity, mechanical know-how, and his love for his family. Bob was born on April 2, 1943 in Los Angeles to Samuel “Elwood” and Lois (Goddard) Noel. Bob was incredibly proud of his service in the Navy, which he joined right after high school. After his Naval service ended, Bob worked at the Oroville Clearing, working to prepare the site for the construction of the Oroville Dam. Following this job, he spent time working a number of small mechanic jobs, but knew he wanted stability and a long-term position. Eventually, Bob landed a job as an equipment mechanic for PG+E, which he continued at for 31 years until his retirement. Bob’s kind heart led him to volunteer to be Santa Claus for PG+E and for a Special Education Preschool in Woodland for many years! Anyone who knew Bob, knew his love of cars. This lifelong passion began as a teenager, when he acquired and built his own Model A at the age of 15. His Model A would later become a thread of connection between Bob, his kids, and grandkids. He was often found in his shop rebuilding and fixing cars for friends and family. Bob also enjoyed traveling to new places in his Jeep Rubicon. He and his wife, Ann would travel to see stage coach markers and would often rank the trails they visited. A favorite activity of Bob and Ann’s was to pull out a paper map, and randomly point to find where their next destination would be. Bob enjoyed going on leisurely motorcycle rides. He taught both kids and grandkids the art of clamming, and loved to take camping trips with family. Every summer, Bob and Ann would take the grandkids for camping adventures – the time spent was precious, and the memories will span generations. He was also very active as a parishioner of Hornbrook Community Church, often fixing things around the building and cooking for various events. He was also known for making the best breakfasts for his family, his church, and his Model A club, and he was known for having a cheesy “dad joke” at the ready! Bob was set in his ways, but extremely generous and giving to those in need. He was a helper, through and through, and the kindest man you ever knew. He was strong, and he was patient; his family know that Bob could be counted on for anything, without a doubt. He was the best father and grandfather to his family, and this role was one that Bob took very seriously. Bob was preceded in death by his father, Elwood, and mother Lois. He is survived by his wife, Ann (Ceccato) Noel; children, Stephanie, Jennifer, and Robert “Bobby”; and step-children, Jeremy “Jay,” Kasey, and Kevin. He is also survived by his brothers, Jerry and David; as well as 10 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, plus another great grandchild on the way. At this time, no services are scheduled. Girdner Funeral Chapel is assisting the family through this difficult season.
